Hip Anatomy & Yoga Sequencing
2 Day Workshop
Unlock the Secrets of Your Hips for a Stronger, More Balanced Practice
This evidence-based workshop delves into the biomechanics of the hips, providing a deeper understanding of their role in movement, stability, and overall physical health. Designed for yoga teachers seeking Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits, as well as practitioners looking to optimise their asana practice, this workshop offers practical tools to enhance hip function and alleviate issues like low back pain.
Why Focus on the Hips?
The hips are a central part of the body’s musculoskeletal system, significantly influencing posture, movement efficiency, and spinal alignment. Research has shown that dysfunction or weakness in the hips can contribute to low back pain, poor posture, and even injuries in areas like the knees and lower back. By understanding how the hips work, you can create a stronger, more stable foundation for movement.
Flexibility Isn’t the Goal—Strength and Stability Are
Contrary to popular belief, having overly mobile hips without the necessary strength and stability can lead to imbalances and injury. This workshop emphasises building functional strength and stability in the hips, key components for preventing injuries and improving movement efficiency. You’ll explore evidence-based techniques to activate the correct muscles for better joint health, stability, and load distribution throughout your practice.
What You’ll Learn:
Hip Anatomy & Biomechanics: A deep dive into the key structures of the hips, including muscles, joints, and connective tissues, and how these influence movement and posture in asana practice.
Evidence-Based Sequencing for Stability: Learn to build effective sequences that enhance strength, balance, and control in the hips, improving overall practice and reducing the risk of injury.
Alleviate Low Back Pain: Discover how improving hip function can lead to reduced strain on the lower back and promote better overall body mechanics.
Optimising Posture and Alignment: Gain practical tools to improve hip alignment and engagement in key yoga postures, from standing poses to seated and supine positions.
Teaching with a Functional Approach: For yoga teachers, this workshop provides evidence-based strategies for guiding students through safe, effective hip-focused sequences that prioritise strength and stability.
Who Should Attend?
Yoga teachers seeking CPD credits and enhanced understanding of hip anatomy and functional movement.
Yoga practitioners looking to improve hip strength and stability, optimise their asana practice and prevent injury.
Individuals experiencing low back pain, poor posture, or joint discomfort, who want to take a proactive approach to pain management and movement efficiency.
Why Strength & Stability Matter
Studies show that strong, stable hips are essential for proper posture, movement efficiency, and injury prevention. Weak or unstable hips can create compensatory patterns in other areas of the body, increasing the risk of strain or injury. This workshop focuses on strengthening the hips to support healthier movement patterns, reduce stress on the lower back, and improve overall physical resilience.
